Privacy in the Ankaa beta

Last updated 28 October 2026 (web search added)

ankaa.chat is the private beta of Ankaa v1, run by NOVA Enterprise Limited, a New Zealand company (NZBN 9429052611193). This page explains what happens to your information in the beta. The short version: we keep your email and a daily count of your messages. We do not keep your chats on our servers, and we do not use them to train Ankaa.

What we keep

Your chats

When you send a message, it goes from your browser to our server, which passes it to Ankaa to write the answer. The answer comes straight back to you. Neither our server nor the computer that runs Ankaa stores your messages or writes them to its logs. We checked the logs ourselves.

Your chats are saved only in your own browser, so you can come back to them. Delete a chat with the cross beside it in the chat list, or clear this site's data in your browser to remove them all. If you use another device or browser, your chats will not be there.

We do not use your chats to train Ankaa or any other AI model. If we ever offer a way to share chats to help improve Ankaa, it will be off unless you turn it on.

Who handles your information

ServiceWhat it doesWhere
SupabaseSign-in, your email address and the daily message countsSydney, Australia
RenderRuns the ankaa.chat server that passes your messages to AnkaaSingapore
ModalRuns Ankaa v1 itself on a graphics cardUnited States
Zoho MailSends your invitation and sign-in emailsZoho's data centres
TavilyWeb search, when Ankaa needs current information. It receives only the few search words Ankaa writes, never your chatUnited States

Your messages pass through Render and Modal to be answered, which means they leave New Zealand. These providers process them for us only to run ankaa.chat.

When Ankaa uses a tool, the answer shows a card saying so. The calculator and the fact check (NOVA Gnomon) run on our own server. A web search card shows the search words that were sent and the pages used.

Things we do not do

Please keep sensitive details out of your chats

Ankaa is an early test. Do not share passwords, card numbers, IRD numbers, health details or other people's private information in your chats.

How long we keep things

We keep your email and daily counts while the beta runs. When it ends, or sooner if you ask, we delete your account and its counts.

Your rights

Under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Email admin@deskwithnova.com. If you are not happy with how we handle a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes

If we change how the beta handles your information, we will update this page and its date, and email you about any important change.
